Travel advice

Everything you might want to ask

Why use a personal travel expert instead of booking online?

A personal travel expert saves research time, narrows the market to sensible options and remains a named human point of contact around the booking. I also get to know how you like to travel, so recommendations can become more personal over time.

Are holidays booked through you financially protected?

Eligible bookings made through Designer Travel benefit from the protection arrangements that apply to that travel service. Designer Travel sells travel services on behalf of Hays Travel Limited and benefits from ABTA membership L318X; applicable flight-inclusive packages may be ATOL protected under ATOL 5534. The protection that applies is confirmed before booking.

Can you arrange a tailor-made or multi-centre holiday?

Yes. I can help combine flights, accommodation, transfers, tours, cruises and experiences into a trip shaped around your dates, budget and priorities.

Do you arrange family holidays?

Yes. I travel with my own family and understand the practical details that matter when travelling with children, including flight times, room layouts, transfers, family facilities and the pace of the trip.

Can you help with cruise holidays?

Yes. I have first-hand cruise experience and can help compare cruise lines, ships, cabins, dining options, itineraries and pre- or post-cruise stays.

Can I book a honeymoon or special occasion trip?

Yes. I can plan honeymoons, milestone birthdays, anniversaries and once-in-a-lifetime trips, including more complex itineraries where hotels, experiences and transfers need to work together.

Do I have to live in Rochdale to book with you?

No. I’m based in Rochdale and works with clients locally and across the UK by phone, email and WhatsApp.

How early should I start planning a long-haul holiday?

For popular long-haul trips, school holidays, honeymoons and complex multi-centre itineraries, starting 9–18 months ahead can give you more choice. Shorter trips can often be arranged much closer to departure, depending on availability.

What does a travel agent actually do?

A good travel agent turns a broad brief into realistic options, checks details that are easy to miss and remains a human point of contact around the booking.

What should I send first?

Approximate dates, travellers, departure airports, rough budget, destination ideas and the things that would make the holiday a success.

What is the difference between ABTA and ATOL?

They are different forms of travel protection. ABTA membership relates to standards, support and certain protection arrangements; ATOL protects eligible flight-inclusive package bookings. Always check the protection supplied with your booking.

Book early or wait?

Early booking usually gives more choice for school holidays, weddings, cruises, premium rooms and complex trips. Late offers can exist but mean accepting less choice.
